Position Overview: Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for leading all warehouse and paint line functions to ensure safety, efficiency, and operational excellence. This role requires a strong leader who can balance strategic direction with hands-on management, driving performance and fostering a culture aligned with Alspec’s R.E.S.P.E.C.T values. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and implement strategies to optimise warehouse operations and improve performance.
- Lead, inspire, and manage a team of warehouse supervisors and staff, ensuring high levels of motivation and performance.
- Lead and manage Warehouse & Paint Line Supervisors, ensuring optimum team performance.
- Act as a safety champion, embedding a culture of safety-first across all operations.
- Drive operational efficiency through planning, resource management, and continuous improvement.
- Take ownership of the operational P&L, delivering improvements in labour, scrap, and rework.
- Manage budgets, cost control, and approve operational invoices.
- Implement strategies to improve stock management, customer service, and warehouse performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, WHS standards, and operational procedures.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members to build capability and retention.
About You: We’re looking for a motivated and results-driven leader with a track record of operational success. You will have: - 8+ years’ management experience in operations, production, distribution, logistics, or warehouse management, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams, manage budgets, and deliver measurable operational results.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, warehouse operations, and end-to-end supply chain processes.
- Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems (ideally Microsoft D365) with a focus on process improvement and continuous improvement tools.
- Excellent communication, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related applications.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field (extensive industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications
- A degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- Extensive experience in warehouse or operations management may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
Desirable: - Experience in aluminium building or industrial distribution.
- Tertiary certification in Lean Manufacturing, Competitive Systems, or Operational Excellence.
- Demonstrated success in applying Lean methodologies such as 5S, Kaizen, or Kanban
